Environmental
auditing has created a surge of interest in recent years. With
environmental legislation growing stricter by the day and with
business taking a fresh look at its responsibilities towards the
environment, a clear understanding of the meaning of this term
and of its application in practice is becoming essential.
This
guide is designed to complement and elaborate the ICC’s
1988 position paper (publication No. 468) which provides a unique
international benchmark. It describes current practice in environmental
auditing, drawing on the experience of certain leading multinational
organisations, notably Arthur D. Little and Allied-Signal Inc.
The Guide provides expanded explanations of successful auditing
programmes and detailed guidance in designing programmes and conducting
individual audits.
Managing
directors, environmental managers, personnel involved in monitoring
the environment and consultants will find in the Guide a clear
and concise description of state-of-the methods in this field.
